The Kawasaki FS481V-HS01S is a 14.5 HP vertical-shaft gasoline engine designed for lawn and turf equipment. It features a 603cc 90° V-twin, 4-cycle overhead V-valve design, forced-air cooling, and electronic spark ignition.

The HS01S configuration uses a 1" x 3-5/32" vertical crankshaft and recoil starting. It also features pressurized lubrication, automatic compression release, a dual-element air filtration system with reinforced primary filter, internally vented carburetor, rotating grass-chopper screen, and cast-iron cylinder liners.
