The Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 49R977-0008-G1 is a 26 gross HP, 810cc vertical-shaft engine designed for commercial outdoor power equipment. It features a V-Twin configuration, overhead-valve design, cyclonic air filtration and a carbureted fuel system.

This configuration uses a 1-inch diameter x 3-5/32-inch vertical crankshaft with a 1/4-inch keyway and 7/16-20 tapped end. It includes full-pressure lubrication with a spin-on oil filter, oil cooler, integral fuel pump and a 12-volt solenoid-shift electric starter with a 16-amp DC alternator.
