The Kawasaki FS691V-FS08S is a 23 HP vertical-shaft gasoline engine designed for zero-turn mowers, lawn tractors, and other turf equipment. It features a 726cc 90° V-twin, 4-cycle overhead V-valve design, forced-air cooling, and electronic spark ignition.

The FS08S configuration uses a Bendix electric starter and a dual-element air filtration system with a reinforced primary filter. It also features pressurized lubrication, automatic compression release, an internally vented carburetor with fuel shut-off solenoid, rotating metal grass-chopper screen, cast-iron cylinder liners, and integrated clean-out ports.
